The Taleban have killed one of the 23 South Korean hostages they abducted in Afghanistan, government officials say.
The death was confirmed by a district official in Ghazni province, who said the man who was shot was apparently too ill to walk. The official, Khowja Seddiqi, told the BBC he could not confirm reports that eight of the Koreans had been freed. Meanwhile, it has emerged that an abducted journalist freed on Wednesday is Danish, not German as reported.
The journalist, named Khwaja Najibullah, is of Afghan origin, and worked for Danish television. He was freed along with his Afghan driver and translator. Speaking after his release, Mr Najibullah said his abductors had released him after pressure from local people.
Mr Seddiqi, who is head of Qarabagh district in Ghazni province, said the killing of the South Korean man had not been because of a failure in negotiations, or because Taleban demands had not been met.
Earlier, Taleban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi announced the killing but gave a different version of events.
He told Reuters news agency: "Since Kabul's administration did not listen to our demand and did not free our prisoners, the Taleban shot dead a male Korean hostage." The spokesman repeated Taleban demands that eight of its jailed fighters be released, or more hostages would be killed.
The 23 Koreans were abducted in Ghazni, south-west of Kabul, on Thursday. The hostages - most of them women - are members of a Christian aid group.
In addition to the South Koreans, two Germans were kidnapped in central Afghanistan last week. The body of one was later found by a road.
Lets pray for the remaining koreans bros and sisters who are still in captive!

ThankSGivings! the beautiful place where we held our conference!=)
the corridor outside the hall.look at the multitudes of believers all over the world!=)
worship stage=)
look at all the hands lifted up during worship
Lessons that i learnt 1)Prayer with hunger and DESPERATION
I am personally very encouraged when i see how the koreans pray!Last time used to wonder why is korea the 2nd largest sending base for missionaries? and when i went to korea, i knew why.it because of the way they PRAY.
i was asking the Lord one day during quiet time how to pray with that kind of hunger? and He told me through psalms 63:1 "O God, You are my Lord earnestly i seek You my soul thirst for You my body longs for You in a dry and weary land where there is no water."
then i realize its to pray like you are desiring for water in a desert. DESPERATE came to my mind.
i was talking to a korean friend one day=)
shingoon:eh wanting!what time do you guys wake up everyday? me:oh! we wake up at 8am everyday to pray and meet shingoon:oh!8am! me:(thinking that its rather early)oh, yah!8am!why isit very early? shingoon:nono!we wake up everyday at 6am to pray and have quiet time together. =) me:-_- (runs to hide face)
And i really do see them do that everyday.
2)Go to the ends of the world for Jesus
God reminded me that its not only China that i should be going for Him.He wanted me to go everywhere that He desires me to. I struggled to obey. But one night during the worship, the lyrics "this is my desire to honor You, Lord with all my heart i worship You." Then it hit upon me that i can never lose the best for myself when i surrender and obey His call and will. I surrendered there and then with tears of joy in my eyes.
3)Being BUSY in our ministry is not the gospel
This sentence hit me when a speaker was sharing one morning.many a times i had been busy with many things in my life, till i think that this can be a testimony of what Jesus is. But i was wrong. Many a times being busy in my ministry resulted in being a bad testimony for Jesus in my family.I must learn to priortize my time with my family and ministry once i come back. Thank God for revealing this important truth to me.=) ...................................................................................................... i enjoy the conference very much!i made a lot of friends and leant many more things!=) praise God for bringing me all the way there to experience and see a glimpse of heaven=)
Dont worry, it doesnt sounds as bad as it is. God provided plenty of food for my team!=)We did not have a chance to go hungry!=)
curry rice, kimchi and beans soup! yummie
first meal of the day!=)
We had joshua prayer walk on the first day!=)
we praying in front of cult buildings, shrines, motels and areas where prosituitions takes place. What hit me most was when we visited a temple in the middle of the night. i saw hundreds of statues at the side of the temple, and it looked scary. The koreans told me that the statues were the tombs of the buddhists who had died here.My heart grieved, knowing that many had perished without knowing Jesus.
We shared gospels on the 2nd day!
When we went to share in the apartments in the morning, none of the adults were really interested in the gospels. Most shrugged us away and tell us that they had better things to do.
What touched my heart was when we shared to the high school students in the afternoon, all who listened to the gospel received JEsus into their lives!=)Praise God!
in the evening, i thank God for allowing me to meet a china lady in the village and i managed to share the gospel in chinese to her!=) thank God for the amazing time. Even though she didnt receive Christ, but im praying that Christ will work in her heart.
